It has also been decided that the boys will receive 1/2 of all the ticket proceeds they sell for their Scout account which can be used to pay for summer camping or other scout activities. Each family is also requested to bring either 2 pies, two dozen cookies, or a cake to sell at the fundraiser. We also need boys and their parents to help bus tables and clean up. Community service is one of the Scouting ideals. Mark your calendar for April 10 when Pack 3065 will join about 600 other Scouts to help prepare the Burroughs Creek Trail in East Lawrence. Please let your den leader know whether you will help in this high visibility event. We are also working on a Pack community service project but have not yet identified a project. Perhaps we will have Cub Scouts from each school prepare the flower garden and plant flowers at BESIC, BESPC, Vinland and Marion Springs. We need a parent from each school to coordinate the community service project at each school. Each scout should regularly perform community service. The outdoor activities include learning about nature, being a readyman, and overnight camping.<br>

Cub Scout Day Camp is a daytime camping experience held within each district of the council. Tiger Cubs through Webelos will enjoy this camp. The theme for the 2010 Cub Scout Day Camp program is "Centennial Luau". These Scouts shoot BB guns and bows and arrows; work on Webelos activity badges and Cub Scout belt loops; cook out; sing songs; learn about nature; make crafts; play games; learn about becoming a Webelos or Boy Scout and more! You will also learn to play golf. If you have not made plans to attend, you should! Going to camp is a wonderful part of the Scouting experience. The Pack must provide leadership and adult supervision for their Cub Scouts who attend Day Camp, plus arrangements for transportation to and from the camps. It is recommended that packs have at least one registered adult leader attend camp for every five to six boys sent by the pack. The minimum number allowed at any time is two, and one of these two must have completed Youth Protection Training. Everyone must complete a health information form to attend camp.</SPAN></FONT></div>

Bear Camp is a Cub Scout Resident Camp designed for Bear Cub Scouts. Held at the Theodore Naish Scout Reservation in Bonner Springs, Kansas, Bear Camp is a theme-oriented overnight camping experience that provides a one-night, two-day camping experience with a program that is designed as an introduction to the long-term camping program of the Boy Scouts of America. Designed especially for Boys going into 3rd grade and their parents, each Scout spends 2 full days and 1 night of fun in the wilderness of Cub World. Webelos Scout Resident Camp is held at the Naish Scout Reservation. The program is designed for both first and second year Webelos Scouts, with the first year Webelos program revolving on Activity Badges such as Sportsman, Aquanaut, and Naturalist. The second year Webelos Program is designed to advance the camping skills of a young man as he prepares to enter his next level of scouting, Boy Scouting. The Webelos Camp Program is a two night, three-day camping experience.</SPAN></FONT></div>

Webelos camp is a three-day, two-night experience, and contains separate activities for first and second year Webelos. <br>
· First Year Webelos program include activities that introduce Scouts to an outdoor camping experience. Requirements for Aquanaut, Craftsman, Readyman, Naturalist and Outdoorsman Activity Pins are offered. <br>
· The Second Year Webelos program is designed to help prepare older Webelos for their transition to Boy Scouts and Boy Scout Camping. Highlights include a Bouldering Wall, Model Rocket Building and Action Archery. <br>
· New Outdoor Skills and Games areas allow Scouts to have fun in an outdoor camp setting while teaching them how to work together. Various certification courses like Youth Protection Training, Safe Swim Defense and Boy Scout Fast Start Training for Adult Leaders are also offered. Knowledgeable Commissioners are on hand to help and serve.</SPAN></FONT></div>

After that date, the cost will increase to $130 per person. Pack 3065 has reserved 20 slots so the first 20 boys/adult leaders who register attend will get to go. These fees cover the cost of all patches for Scouts, program supplies, participation awards, meals, lodging, insurance, etc. Please note camp T-shirts are NOT included in the Webelos camp fee. Also, like Day Camp, you must register to attend camp as a Pack, not individually. Additionally, any adult attending Webelos Camp (full or part time) MUST BE a registered member of Boy Scouts of America. Sessions are limited to 300 youth and 175 leaders or a maximum of 475 participants. <br>
Pack Family Camping (Graduation Weekend) May 7-9, Spring Lake Park, Baldwin Pack overnighters are pack-organized overnight camping activities involving more than one family from the pack, with the program focused on age-appropriate Cub Scout activities and conducted at a Council Approved Pack Camping Location. If nonmembers (siblings) participate, the program is structured to accommodate them. <br>
This type of activity may well be the first time a Cub Scout and his family has to experience the fun and excitement of camping in the outdoors. Careful program planning and adherence to the BSA's health and safety policies found in the Guide to Safe Scouting and Youth Protection guidelines assures a positive experience for the pack, the Cub Scout and his family.<br>
To begin with, each youth member must be under the supervision of a parent or guardian and, in all cases, each youth participant is responsible to a specific adult who is on the overnight. Adults giving leadership to a pack overnighter must complete Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO Training), and be present on the campout as well. BALOO trains participants to properly understand the importance of program intent, Youth Protection guidelines, health and safety, site selection, age-appropriate activities, and sufficient adult participation. BALOO is offered in Lawrence on April, just in time for the Graduation Weekend.</SPAN></FONT></div>
