Dear Mr. and Mrs. Cromer:
Forgive me butting in, but I may have some information. Please
disregard if John has already answered your questions.
A Klondike Derby is a wintertime district camporee. It is similar to
the fall and spring camporees, but with a different theme.
1. Competition. This is done in patrols. For information about kinds
of activities, go to: http://scoutdocs.ca/Klondike/Events.php
2. I saw three sleds in the Scout Cabin at the last meeting. The
Scouts do not make individual sleds. (If there's no snow, they put
wheels on them.)
3. The Derby will be Feb. 27, 28, and March 1. The Location will be
Camp Naish, near Bonner Springs. Usually, the troop departs in two
groups (early and late), with times to be announced later.
4. I don't know which patrol Scott is in, or who is its leader. That
information is on a bulletin board at the Scout Cabin. I could look
it up and get back to you if someone else hasn't provided that
information to you first.
5. I yield to John in regard to merit badges. I know that signups are
now being conducted for Family LIfe and Personal Management merit
badges, taught by Ed Wasson.
Also:
Scout Sunday is Feb. 8. I believe we are going to the First United
Methodist Church of Baldwin this year. I do not know the time.
The Troop 65 Court of Honor is 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22, at the
Baldwin Elementary School Intermediate Center, west side of Baldwin.
Hope this is helpful
Regards,
Joe Bollig
