[scouts] Upcoming Event

Dear Parents -

Just a note about our next event:

January 16-18. White Buffalo Trappers' Rendezvous. Halstead, KS.
With an average attendance of more than 4,000 scouts, "Trappers" is the largest winter camping event in North America. Black-powder rifle shooting, tomahawk throwing, wood and leather branding, the awesome SPAM cook-off, the Coleman Camping gear tent (which sells to the scouts at a 50-75% discount), and more trading than you would ever believe possible are just some of the many reasons why this event is a big favorite among the boys. We've attended it every year since I've been in the troop (2003) and quite a bit before that, but I don't know how far back.

The cost is $5.00 to register and $10.00 for meals. He should also bring money for lunch on Sunday at Brahm's in Emporia ($7.00).  

Please pay in advance of the event. If your son needs winter camping equipment, let me know. We have lots of gear to lend him. 

We'll have two groups going, one at about 4:00 PM and one after 6:00 PM. Please let me know what time your son will be leaving. 

Tomorrow night (Monday 1/5), Jake Hogsett, Camerson Scruggs, Alex Coffey, and Logan Keener will be present to go over the basics of Trappers' (How to trade, etc.) They also will be attending the event. 

Now all we need is some sub-zero weather and it will be perfect!
